Request a removal
If you want a record taken off this site, email removals@socialsecuritydeathindexsearch.com with a link to the record or the person's name and date of death.
We will remove it. You do not need to give a reason, prove a relationship, or pay anything. Removals are applied to the live site immediately and are permanent — they survive any future rebuild of the database.
Some things worth knowing:
- Removing a record here does not remove it from the underlying government file, or from Ancestry, FamilySearch, or anywhere else holding a copy. We only control this site.
- If you are alive and listed here, that is an error in the Social Security Administration's records rather than ours. We will suppress it here straight away, but correcting it at the source is worth doing too — the Administration's field offices handle that, and an erroneous death record can affect benefits and credit.
- We do not publish Social Security numbers at all, so a removal request is not needed to protect that. Details here.
